As a first generation American, G-SALIH or Gihad was born in Virginia to Sudanese parents in the 1990’s. Hip Hop made it’s impact on G at the tender age of 6 when songs by Kanye West, Usher and Lil Wayne opened his mind to writing. Inspired, Salih took to journaling and poetry which quickly evolved to rapping late nights in his bedroom.

As a longtime passion, music took a back seat to his studies until a chance assignment made him realize how much he was personally sacrificing and missing out on. The birth of his first EP, self-titled “GIHAD”, was released in 2019. It details the realities of his life as a college-graduate fueled by his upbringing in a middle-class immigrant household. His introspective lyrical content and innovative flows grabbed the attention of eighteen thousand listeners for his track “On The Way” produced by his partner Moyne.

Three months later Gihad jumped back into the studio with Moyne where they crafted “Airplane Mode” and “Aye interlude”. Their evolving friendship and synergy led to a larger partnership signing with Moyne Music upon its launch. As an independent artist, G-SALIH understands the importance of sharing his story and looks forward to releasing his new single “Daydreaming” in the summer of 2020.
